Last chance to join us on a new adventure!
View this email in your browser Open Water Camp 2015 Calling all lifesavers! Last chance to sign up!The deadline for signing up to Sheffield LSC's very own Open Water Camp 2015 has now been extended! Open Water will be a completely new experience for many of our Young Lifesavers, but is both fun and exciting, and there are many new skills to be gained from Open Water training. We have only a few places left to fill, so if you might be interested in learning new skills, getting to know fellow club members better, and having fun - bring a deposit of £20 in a named, sealed envelope before the May half term break (so you only have tomorrow 13th May and next week 20th May!). The camp is running from 24th-27th August in the Lake District. If you have any concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch! Click here to read the SLSC Open Water Camp letter! Do you like bacon? If you answered yes, we can help!We can provide you with the perfect bacon sandwich on a Sunday morning, and you'll be helping the club at the same time! To claim your perfect bacon sandwich (or sausage sandwich if you would prefer), just email Tamsin to let her know which dates you are available to help us! Dates are the second Sunday of each month, June-September inclusive:
Terms & Conditions: To be eligable for your free bacon or sausage sandwich, participants must be willing to give up a morning to help facilitate SLSC's Car Boot for fundraising purposes. Willing volunteers must report to Wisewood Sports Centre for 7.30am and are required to: unlock gates, wear highly fashionable hi-vis jackets, collect money from participating boot's of cars, hold paddle boards to guide cars into appropriate sized spaces whilst looking like a professional aircraft marshal, stand in the sunshine whilst enjoying light-hearted chit chat, and consuming the perfect bacon sandwich with a well earned cuppa, before finishing up at around 11am. On one final serious note - we really need some more volunteers to help us run this car boot. It is the Club's biggest fundraiser and brings in a lot of money for not a lot of work. If you can spare any time at all on any of these dates, please let Tamsin know ASAP as the Club committee can't run this alone. Copyright © 2015 Sheffield Lifesaving Club, All rights reserved.

Please print off some copies and put them on the notice boards at work, college, local sports centres, newsagents, pubs, etc....
Thanks, C. Dear Parents & Swimmers,
Everybody has received Raffle Tickets for this years Xmas Raffle. There will be lots of prizes to win. Please return the ticket stubs and monies raised to Chris when paying your sub's. Thanks, Chris Since the email and news article on 15/3 we've regrettably not had a single reply as yet.
The Car Boots are THE key way in which we raise funds for the club. Your help on a few Sunday mornings to setup at the start or put away at the end, OR both would be very very welcome. Please check you diaries and let us know which Sundays work for you. Thank You. For privacy reasons this has been blind-copied (bcc:) to parents & members.
Dear Parents/Carers/Members, If this is to a members email address can you please print it off and pass it on to your parents. Thanks. Here are a list of possible Sundays on which we could run a Car Boot. As covered in March'14 Newsletter (+ recent cascades), this is THE major income source for the club and enables us to keep subscriptions, membership, our exchanges to and from Holland, and club events at their current level. Note - we're ONLY expecting to run 1 (possible 2 max) Sunday each month. In July and September we are currently contemplating 2 sales in those months. Your support on a Sunday morning(s) would be very much appreciated. At the moment the only "usual crew" will be ...Diane, Jamie and myself. With Jake (up to July). We can't run the sales in 2014 with so few of us. We usually start to set up (eg. marking out the parking area, street cones) at about 06:45 and most of the cars/vans have left the field by noon. Alternatively if you can help setup in the morning and/or pack-away at around 11:30 that would be great also. Please just put either YES or NO and the number of helpers alongside these dates. I've just put one entry against 18th May as an example. May 4 - 11 - 18 - yes/no (2) 25 - June 1 - 8 - 15 - 22 - 29 - July 6 - 13 - 20 - 27 - August 3 - 10 - 17 - 24 - 31 - Sept 7 - 14 - 21 - 28 - Can you please get back to us ASAP. Diane & I will collate the feedback to determine the viable dates, get back to everybody and then she has to book/register/pay for those dates with the Sheffield Council Markets Dept. Thanks again, Chris Ledger

The other candidates which may not have yet fully completed the syllabus will be pushed to finish when we resume after the summer. It is planned to submit their assessment forms off to the RLSS over the summer. Please ensure that you have RLSS membership otherwise we cannot submit your form. SLSC Polo Shirts Many of the members and parents have enquired if there are any club logo shirts available. I have a supply of Medium and Large (and I think a few Small) and will bring them to the club next week. They are priced at £5. SLSC Competition - 19Oct It's getting close to our annual competition at Eckington in October. In addition to members completing their Bronze syllabus we will also be organising training and coaching for our team submissions. It's our club comp' so we need to enter as many teams as possible. As ever we are asking for as many parent/member volunteers as possible on the day to help with the stewarding, timekeeping, competition incident on the day. PLEASE email me asap to let me know if you can help before and/or on the day. And many members have helped and support the club each year in the running of the "Incident" aspect of the competition. Jamie is planning and organising this year's so please let him have your suggestions for the "theme". See you next week!! On behalf of the club I wish everybody a lovely summer and we'll then see you on September 4th. Many thanks and regards, Chris. Email from Diane....
Hi everyone As one of our fundraising ventures we have a stall at Stannington carnival each year where we do a tombola and other things to raise money for the Club. So we would like all of you to have a look and see if you have any unwanted gifts/bottles of booze/other suitable items that we could use as tombola prizes. We need these things ASAP please so if you could bring them to Hillsborough LC on Wednesday 3rd July that would be really helpful as I am away the following week. If you can’t get them there until the 10th that will be ok and someone will collect them from Chris . The Carnival is on 13th July so we really need any items you may have ASAP please Thanks very much |
